4 Models of Mercedes Electric Vehicles by 2020

Green energy for electric cars has been proven to be viable considering Tesla’s success with its Model S, Model X and more recently Model 3 which has received hundreds of thousands of orders. The three main German luxury carmakers including Mercedes are not being left behind considering Germany has offered sales subsidies for any electric vehicles (EVs) that will be priced under €60,000. Mercedes-Benz is making the move and has already announced its plans to release 4 models of its electric cars by the year 2020. Two of the zeroemission vehicles will be sedans while the other two will be SUVs.

Although Mercedes has not yet revealed all the details concerning its plans for EVs, insiders say they will all be largely based on designs of their conventionally powered siblings. The two sedans will resemble the mid-size C-Class and the large S-Class models. The electric crossover SUVs accompanying the sedans will resemble the GLA and GLC models. However, the new EVs will still include design features that will make them easily recognizable as zeroemission cars.

Mercedes has accelerated plans for the new green car models and many other automakers are expected to follow suit. It appears with incentives from governments many carmakers would be interested in similar ventures to make electric cars affordable enough for the mass market. Mercedes has confirmed that with a volume of 50,000 units of these electric cars every year then their production would be justified. They believe they can make competitive EVs but there always has to be a business sense made with every venture. Investments have already been made for the production of these cars and even towards the production of the batteries that would be required to power them.

In as much as the design of the electric cars would compare to those of their existing gasoline or diesel powered siblings, the new designs would have significant improvements for better aerodynamics. These important aspects for the designs of the EVs will achieve the reduction of aerodynamic drag to the minimum in order to allow for long range use. The electric SUV that will compare to the GLC crossover will adopt the model name ELC. It is expected to be the first in the new line of electric vehicles Mercedes is planning to roll out from its plants.

With its moves towards the production of electric cars, Mercedes Benz expects to succeed in a market not many automakers have managed to conquer yet. Their engineering quality standards are expected to transform the design of electric cars, although the cost of components and parts remain a challenge. Mercedes has invested in the production of electric motors and batteries for their EVs. Stuttgart remains the home of great engineering that all Mercedes Benz cars, Mercedes Engines and other parts are well known for. Buying Used Mercedes Benz Engines is convenient now with the use of the internet. So the quality of their EVs is also expected to meet great expectations when the cars finally appear in showrooms around the world. It will be a great contribution towards the attainment of green economy goals for years to come.
